Adopt-a-Block

Adopt-a-Block is a community-based outreach program focused on building long term partnerships with community members in an effort to beautify inner city neighborhoods, create employment opportunities, reduce crime and improve overall quality of life, one block at a time. As urban developers with deep roots to the inner city, we bring over 25 years of experience in redeveloping and honest concern for the communities in which we work and live. Adopt-a-Block is a vehicle that we use as a way to improve not only the appearances of the neighborhoods in which we work, but is also a means in which we gladly give back and help to facilitate positive change to the community at large. Our program is much more than just street cleaning for senior citizens or others that may not otherwise be unable to properly manage the upkeep of their properties. In some cities, our volunteers are involved in distributing food, removing graffiti from structures, remedying blight issues and landscaping. Through the construction side of our program, we are even able to demolish small structures deemed hazardous or ones used for improper activities. This developmental side of our program helps to ensure that the residential needs are met by assisting them with gate, sidewalk and curb damage repairs free of charge!

Other efforts designed to further empower the communities that we work with by implementing and managing mentorship programs like the old proverb ‘Each one, Teach one’. This program relies on each residential member to strengthen the chains of their community through shared activities and learning. Programs like this provide employment opportunities within the communities and also give local area youths the platform support that they desperately need. Allowing them the opportunity to feel pride and invested in the area in which they live. The word community, by definition is a social group of any size whose members reside in a specific locality, share government, and often have a common cultural and historical heritage. We want to put the social back into communities through programs that promote interaction and pride.

We are not alone in our efforts to help improve the communities within the cities that we work. Local municipalities and businesses are rolling up their sleeves and partnering with us every step of the way.

Adopt-a-Block is much more than just a community-based program, it is a MOVEMENT!
